WAVES are taking a stand for others by tackling these 21 global issues. WAVES is all about action. Find an issue that breaks your heart. Download the How to Start sheet.

The National Runaway Switchboard estimates that on any given night in the United States there are roughly 1.3 million homeless youth living on the streets, in rundown buildings, with friends or with strangers. Homeless youth are more susceptible to abuse, mental health issues, sexual exploitation, substance abuse, illness, and death.

This issue is real in every corner of the world. Young people need a safe place to go, not only when they runaway, but every day. What could you WAVE do to help provide safe places for our peers to feel connected and valued? BTW: Your WAVE should be the first place they should be welcome.

Linzee - “Hi, pals! I am helping co-lead a small group of teens weekly. We come together to talk about what God is doing in all of our lives and the struggles we have faced or are facing. I want to see them empowered to be who God has called them to be. I hope many of them will soon begin to realize that no matter what age you are, you can always start a WAVE! Thank y'all!"

Nicole - “Last week I presented my church with some ideas on how to start a Waves group while using a few hours a week to have teens and young adults meet there to just talk and encourage and turn to our Pastors if need be. I will be incorporating the Pray 21 book as well so we can call focus on a topic each week and apply it to scripture.”

Diona - “We plan on tackling this issue by creating an after school place that anyone in middle school and high school can go to and also create a safe place that kids can be open about themselves and their lives and have a support group within the community and within school.”
